Examples of Sue’s experience include support with strategic planning and improved management, M&E and communication processes through to specific support, for example with adopting participatory and gender transformative or human centred design (HCD) approaches, improved advocacy and delivering quality health services. In addition to providing bespoke training for organisations and individuals, Sue is an Associate Trainer with Bond, the UK network for organisations working in international development. Sue works with Bond to provide training in all aspects of monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) and in project design and management; for example developing theories of change and logical frameworks.

Examples of work include:

Womankind Worldwide

Working with Womankind Worldwide to facilitate the participatory development and introduction of a project-cycle management approach to project design, management and reporting processes. The approach aims to improve cross organisational working and communication, to consolidate and maximise learning within the organisation and to streamline management protocols and practices.

“With extensive programme management knowledge and insight alongside a strong understanding of organisational dynamics, Sue was the obvious choice for the task of supporting Womankind Worldwide with the introduction of a project-cycle management approach. Sue was clear, open and conscientious throughout her work and interactions with the team offering challenge alongside support when we needed it.”

Sarah Masters, Director of Programmes and Learning, Womankind Worldwide

Women and Children First (UK)

Between 2012 and 2017 Sue worked with Women and Children First (UK) and partners on a number of projects including:

UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology

Providing bespoke support to the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology in the management of the ODA-funded SUNRISE (Sustainable Use of Natural Resources to Improve Human Health and Support Economic Development) programme. Sue’s inputs included providing M&E training and technical support to the project’s scientists to help ensure effective demonstration of the value of the project’s interventions, and future plans, in supporting the realisation of relevant SDGs.

“Sue Newport Consulting provided bespoke training to UKCEH staff at all levels (Senior leadership, scientists and project managers, internal auditors) tailored to our specific needs. Sue understood what we required, and importantly what we didn’t know we needed, in developing the training for us. The training has been critical in embedding good practice at all levels of the organisation in how we carry out our international and UK-based activities. Sue also provided technical assistance to a large, ODA programme over a number of years (SUNRISE), helping the programme realise its ambitions more effectively.”

Anita Petrie, Science Coordinator, International. UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology
