Sue Newport Consulting was set up in 2008 by Sue Newport to provide tailor-made services to not-for-profit organisations in the UK and internationally.

Post cataract removal, Rajasthan, IndiaSue holds a Masters degree in Health planning, policy and financing and post graduate qualifications in management studies, environmental management and marketing. Prior to becoming an independent consultant Sue held a number of high level management and planning roles including CEO (Maternity Worldwide), Director of Strategic Planning and Information Management (Sightsavers International), Regional Business Manager (Health Protection Agency) and Regional Director, Africa and Arab World (Marie Stopes International).

Sue is an experienced senior manager and consultant with over 18 years of international health care experience and of supporting organisations with strategic planning, organisational development, change management and performance management; including setting and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance evaluation. Sue has significant experience in the not-for-profit sector ranging from leading start-up projects to effective result-oriented programme management and to negotiating, planning and financing programme expansion and developing strategies for long term sustainability.

Sue has over 17 years of experience in negotiating, designing, managing and evaluating health service delivery programmes (both static and outreach), behaviour change communications (BCC) and social marketing programmes. Sue regularly provides technical assistance to and undertakes situational analyses, project evaluations and assessments on behalf of funders and NGOs. She has significant experience working with harder to access and vulnerable groups including adolescents, pastoralists, women, drug users and communities in challenging environments. Sue has a particular interest in health care in fragile and post-conflict settings.

Sue has undertaken a number of desk reviews of health care systems, policies and enabling environments for international organisations and is an active member of a number of working groups and steering committees. Sue was a member of the DFID working group (and subsequent steering group) for improved knowledge management and the integration of health communications into projects which resulted in the Exchange programme.

Her proven management and technical skills and expertise are complemented by her excellent communication skills, ability to understand complex organisations and issues quickly and her ability to focus on detail whilst retaining a strategic overview.
